    Regular Meetings

Humanists, other nontheists, and guests of WASH-NVC host the main meeting on second Sundays at 1:30PM at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax (2709 Hunter Mill Rd, Oakton, VA 22124). WASH NVC is not itself a UU congregation nor do we meet during the UU ‘services’. We rent the location. However, many members of the congregation are themselves humanist, so it is a good fit.

We also meet on alternate Tuesdays at 6PM for Happy (Humanist) Hour at Caboose Cafe (1125 Queen Street Alexandria, VA 22314 in Old Town (NOT DEL RAY) and just a few blocks from the Braddock and King Street Metro stops.

We have additional special meetings including documentary night on 3rd Mondays and 1st Saturdays at Aspen Apartments (3201 Landover Street, Alexandria, VA). Watch Great Courses and Cosmos and discuss with friends over cocktails and food.

Times, dates, and locations of regular meetings may change.  Find up-to-the-minute times and dates as well as Special Events at the WASH meetup page at http://www.meetup.com/humanism-218/.

    Programs

Darwin Day is coming up and WASH NVC is participating in two sessions, a presentation on February 10th by Dr Jerry Poje on the evolution of evolution (ie, our scientific understanding from natural philosophy to evolutionary development). Also look out for a February 4th Pot Luck and presentation on the legal issue of Creationism in schools. Both are hosted by the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax. See Meetup for more details.

WASH NVC is also looking for good ideas for the National Day of Reason, May 2, 2013. As some kneel down to prayer, we want to stand up and use our hands for good with a service project or blood drive. Contact info@nvc.wash.org if you have an idea or can help.
